Art of Being | Intro Workshop

In this three-hour introductory workshop, we will begin by exploring the question What is mindfulness? Grounding ourselves in our body and breath, we can connect with a deeper calm and stillness that lies beneath all of our busyness and worry. We can open our senses to experience the unfolding world around us with greater clarity. This is the ground out of which our art-making will arise. Guided instruction will give you an experiential introduction to basic mindfulness practices, along with time for questions, feedback, and suggestions for continuing to develop your own personal practice at home.

Our art practice in this session, Finding your Line, will center on connecting with your own authentic mark-making that arises out of the stillness and space of simply being. You will have an opportunity to experiment and explore a range of materials in a safe and supportive environment, to see where your line leads you. As we learn to trust the process and let go of self-criticism, we find that the line we draw reveals a fresh confidence.

This workshop will be conducted in English. All materials will be provided, but if you have your own personal art materials or meditation cushion you would like to use, please feel free to bring them along!

Space is limited to 10 participants.

Please complete the RSVP form below to register and reserve a place on the workshop. A confirmation email will be sent with details for the workshop.

Art of Being Workshop: A Map of Curiosity

When we open to our senses, a natural curiosity arises in us. The questions that inspire our curiosity and invite our sense of wonder form an arc across our lifetime. They bring insight into what make us come alive as a unique human being in the world. In this workshop we will use the art of map-making to chart the path of curiosity throughout our lifetime and see where it might point us into the future.

A brief guided practice of mindfulness and awareness of the senses will lead into our contemplation of curiosity and our artistic dive into map-making. You will leave with your very own Map of Curiosity – a living, visual guide to keep working with in your life. No experience in art or mindfulness meditation is required.
